Chilliwack Lawn Bowls Club
| Description: The Chilliwack Lawn Bowling Society has been in existence since 1922, making it the oldest sporting facility in Chilliwack. It has been at its Edward Street location, across from the Princess Street Armouries, since 1923. If you've never played lawn bowling, it is a cross between curling and bocce ball. Unlike 5 or 10 pin bowling, lawn bowls have a bias on either side and bowls are directed toward the object ball called the jack. The stigma that lawn bowling is for seniors is untrue. The World Champions of the sport are in their 20's and 30's. However, with a growing senior population, lawn bowling can serve as an outlet to prevent social isolation. Bowling season runs from late April or early May to about the end of September (depending on weather,) and provides participants with opportunities of exercise, social engagement, and camaraderie.
