Harlequins Bowls Club

The Club was founded in 1969 so next year is our 40th .It was formed from an Amalgamation of 2 clubs that played in Aberdare Park.The club Hosted the BIBC International series in 1971 the last time it was solely hosted by a bowls club and not sponsered by buisneses. Then in 1981 we bought own premises to build our own bowling green.This we established in 1993, so we then become a private club with a bar and lounge facilities. We host the Mid Glamorgan Championship games and also host the Alan Williams UNDER 16's PAIRS Tournament which is a Welsh Bowling Association event. The club won the Carruthers Shield in 1980 and can also boast of 5 welsh internationals.Members have also won the Welsh Singles and Pairs titles and also had finalists in the triples events.We have also had the BIBC Pairs Winners. The club plays in the following leagues, Cynon Valley B.L., Rhondda B.L. Mid Glamorgan B.L., Private Greens B.L. and the W.B.A. The membership is about 38 male members and the membership fees are £70 and for juniors £5 a year.The club welcomes Lady members but to date no applications have been made. The Club always welcomes touring teams and look forward to clubs applying for fixtures.The club also undertakes its own tour yearly usually for a 4 day break playing 3 games.
