Gatehouse Of Fleet Bowling Club

Bowling in Gatehouse was first seen to have been taken place in the late 1840’s when the first ordnance survey maps showed there were two rinks in what is now the gardens of the Murray Arms Hotel. The Gatehouse Green Bowling Club was evidently established by 1850 with the playing of the rink medal and the single handed medal. The original medal for the single handed championship is still being played for to this day.In 1938 the bowling club moved to its current location, an area of land known as the “cow park” which was donated to the club by Mr W McConnel a solicitor from Gatehouse. The new green and pavillion were opened by Mr John McKie MP.

The club is situated at the top of Ann Street and welcomes newcomers and visitors alike. Sweep nights are held on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights. Players are asked to arive at 6.45pm for 7pm start.
